About/CV

My theatre practice focuses on writing and directing plays which explore how the human psyche makes its natural environments. Climate change meets ghosts and social realism meets magic.  By throwing out the rule book, what might be a ‘naturalist’ space meets devised theatre, music, puppets, comedy, and the more-than-human world.

Theatre is alive, an ecology. My current projects focus on race, place, indigenous peoples and ‘eco-psychology’. How is identity traumatised or healed through natural environments? How can nonhumans be given a voice? What is the psyche of place? We can look at this through productions of Shakespeare and classics, as well as new writing.

My theatre practices have benefitted from Sanford Meisner and Michael Chekhov training. I have worked with LA acting coach Judith Weston. With Living Pictures, I  have benefited from training sessions with Lynsey Turner,  Natalie Abrahami, and Ian Rickson. Traditional forms of text-analysis and voice training have been crucial. Acting helps me as a director. I work holistically, directing what I write and yet thriving in a collaborative environment.
